Zigzag and Color: This San Miguel de Allende Kitchen Blends Local and American Tastes

Houston Architect Ed Eubanks has been visiting San Miguel de Allende, an 18th century Colonial town enriching Central Mexico, since he was a kid. So it came as no surprise when he bought a magnificent estate, which he restored a few years ago, and now rents as "Casa Aurora Borealis," via Premier House Rentals and Casa Elegantes. 

During my last visit to San Miguel, Ed's property manager provided an impromtu tour. Just a day 
or so before, though, my friends and I were lunching in the nearby town of Guanajuato. A few tables away from where we enjoyed our own al fresco dining was a large group of women. As it turns out, the women -- one was American and the rest were Dutch -- were staying at Ed's casa in San Miguel -- and they were loving it! 

In keeping with the new Love Where You Live focus, I'm inviting you into Casa Aurora's country-style kitchen, where an electrifying black and white zig-zagged backsplash meet fruity-colored walls and terra cotta floors. It's a charming mix of old and new.

Kitchens -- from pretty to rustic, modern to traditional -- are now a significant part of the new Love Where You Live focus! But, really, expect to see a delightful smorgasbord of styles and looks.

A new passion of mine is nutrition, of which now I am pursuing a degree. So, it's all about kitchens -- my favorite room in a house, and cooking these days. I will be gradually sharing recipes -- as well as interspersing nutrition tips.

Kitchens and Cooking: New Happenings at Love Where You Live!

It’s a fresh new start  here at  Love Where You Live.  

I'm combining an old passion with one that's all new!

As a field editor for Traditional Home, and Better Homes and Garden magazines – I had the delectable job of scouting homes for possible publication. With an overflowing library of photos, this blog came into being.  The warmest spot in any home, I think, is the kitchen. It's my personal favorite!

Kitchens -- from pretty to rustic, modern to traditional -- are now a significant part of the new focus! But, really, expect to see a delightful smorgasbord of styles and looks.

The second purpose is to spotlight healthy cooking. After becoming interested in nutrition a few years ago, which involved turning around my own health status, it seemed like a natural course of action. Plus, it complements what we all want from our kitchen. 

A gathering place for friends and family. It's absolute lagnaippe when kitchens delight all the senses.
