Her Personal Space . . . . at Home with Kelley (The Polished Pebble)

I love Kelley's description of what she likes and wants her blog to reflect: Running the beach. Cruising the coast. Digging the dirt. Re-thinking and re-using. Eating local. Kissing the dog. She sounds like she's enjoying life to the fullest. And what a perfect day today to showcase her favorite place in Ojai, located in Southern California. Meet Kelley:

I had asked Kelley, as I have with all of my other "Her Personal Space" guests: "Where do you go to relax, to escape the "noise?" What room or area of your home is yours?

"Where do I go to chill and regain my inner peace?  Well, that would have to be our little ranch house in Ojai, just south of Santa Barbara," says Kelley.  I have done dozens of posts about the garden and yard.  I love to work in the yard and get really muddy and just putter and rake up leaves.  This is my first really big garden and it has not been without challenges but it's coming along and I feel really good about eating things that I have actually grown myself."

  

"I also like to just sit sometimes and read a good design book to get inspired.  Sometimes I bring up a box of swatches for projects I'm considering and I seem to make better descions when I don't have any pressure to finish something," says Kelley. 

"I love the porches on this little house, both front and back.  And the living room has great sun and light most of the day so I love to sit there too.  Honestly I'm not really a "sitter" type but I do sit and think about things more here.  

"I think regaining some peace of mind is so important," says Kelley.  "I know it helps me put things into perspective . . .  what is really important to me right now, and what I need to focus my energy on.  I have a tendency to blow things all out of proportion, just ask my husband! So that is why this place is so special to me ... and also to my family."
